Remain frugal. The less you can live on, the more chance your idea will succeed. This is true, even after you’ve ‘made it’.
Picasso was a terrible colorist. Turner couldn’t paint human beings… Bob Dylan can’t sing or play guitar… The really good artists, the really successful entrepreneurs, figure out how to circumvent their limitations… Don’t make excuses. Just shut up and get on with it.
Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.
