I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means.
Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right or doing it better.
The thing about inventing is you have to be both stubborn and flexible, more or less simultaneously … We are stubborn on vision. We are flexible on details.
I figure out how much time I have to write a book. I figure out how many words I need to write. I convert that into a daily rate and I write that many words every day come hell or high water.
A problem well stated is a problem half-solved.
